Food. How can something so simple have become so complex?

We are constantly bombarded with new diets and nutritional advice than ever before, searching for the magic combination of foods, medications, exercise, and supplements to relieve our ever-growing health concerns. Heart disease, cancer, respiratory diseases, diabetes, substance abuse, autoimmune diseases, and neurological and psychiatric disorders continue to rise despite our exhaustive efforts. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that 6 in 10 adults in the US have a chronic disease, and 4 in 10 have two or more, costing the nation $4.1 trillion a year in health care costs. Cancer rates have increased by 79% in people under 50 years of age in the last three decades.

 

What are We Doing Wrong?


Do we spend too much time smoking, drinking, eating fast food, and binge on TV? Sure, some people do overdo it to the detriment of their health. However, more and more, we see every day people trying to do the right thing, following their doctors' advice of eating right and exercising, only to continue to be diagnosed with a chronic disease. Health conditions are so commonplace now that we find comfort in knowing we are not alone with our disorder. This sense of belonging eases our anxiety but creates an illusion of security in the power of numbers. If more people have it, how bad can it really be?

 

Our false security keeps us from asking the hard questions.


Why do I have this disease if I eat well and follow my doctor's advice? Genetics, trauma? Something in my history must be to blame. Instead of asking what is wrong with me that this has happened to me? Let's ask what in my environment has changed? Food is meant to nourish us, but it has become a science experiment designed to save the world from malnutrition, starvation, and disease. With the overabundance of food here in America, are we really in danger of hunger and malnutrition? Could our plentiful food's scientific design and processing actually be detrimental to our well-being? 

 

Technology and Innovation


Food technology and innovation are not intentionally harming us; the purpose of increasing profitability and limiting illness exposure is real and big business. However, scientific researchers discover new inner workings of the body and mind daily. The simple practice of fortification years ago now is proven to activate a group of newly discovered receptors that regulate pain, thermoregulation, inflammation, immunity, neurogenic inflammation, stress, itch, and our sensory systems.

 

The activation sets in motion a cascade of events that make us more susceptible to the seemingly harmless chemicals we come in contact with and ingest in our foods. 

 

You Are in Control


At Tranquility Foods, we want you to realize you can control some of your history and rewrite your future. Returning to food at its "roots" holds the answer to our fights with stress, inflammation, disease, and addiction. One of our missions is to help you understand what is occurring, source nourishing foods, and provide simple recipes you can make quickly and easily because, in our society today, we are always either busy or tired. 

 

Our Story


Our journey started twenty years ago when our family did not get satisfactory results from the medical and nutritional guidance we were provided. We began asking questions and digging deeper into the why behind our health symptoms because we were doing all the right things and still not achieving results. In fact, we seemed to get worse sometimes. We were told it was our fault, and we must be cheating on our healthy diets; it must be genetics. It is easy to blame and shame. We did not accept this. We took a step back to look at the bigger picture and learned some interesting things. While our genetics might play into our health, how we control stress and inflammation significantly impacts our well-being. Some excellent mind-body tools are available to help, but we learned the most effective and sustainable way to control stress and inflammation was in how we nourished ourselves and the products we chose. There were years we followed dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and allergy-friendly diets. Gradually, we learned to choose foods that did not activate our stress response, and amazingly, our allergies improved, our aches and pains went away, and our minds were finally free of worry and anxiety. Everything calmed down, and we understood what tranquility meant.

 

We are here to share what we have learned with you because each one of us has a personal struggle we deal with due to chronic stress. At Tranquility Foods, our vision is to be the light at the end of your tunnel, the hope in your smile, and the peace in your mind.
